Don’t take our word about how great Trullo Fedelle is…

This is a perfect getaway holiday home. We spent 3 weeks with our 7 year old. The house is surrounded by substantial land in broad terraces full with olive trees, prickly pears, plums, grapes and other things we couldn’t identify. Although only 5 minutes drive from Ceglie, where we found supermarket and chemist and anything else we needed, the house feels away from it all and the night skies were spectacular. We spent much time at the nearby Banana Club to swim, eat, play cage football and get ice-creams, snacks and drinks from the bar. The trullo rooms were cool even in the hottest sun and the house was equipped with most everything we needed. We had guests coming to stay for a few days and the house was never crowded or fussy. An interesting and relaxing place to stay.

I would like to say that we had a great time at Trullo Fedelle, but we actually had a fantastic time! We took the offer of having a chef come to cook at the house together with a wine expert to talk us through the various wines from Puglia, and I have to say that it was well worth it, great food and absolutly wonderful wine to wash it down with, in a word brilliant. I cannot recommend this trullo enough, we’re definatly going back-thank you for one of the most memorable holidays we’ve ever had.

Staying here really felt like staying in someon’s home. The trulli has been beautifully restored inside and it was lovely to have lots of CDs, DVDs and books that one could borrow. The outside area could have done with a bit of a spruce up though. There was a beautiful outdoor oven that we couldn’t use as it was full of rubbish so there was nowhere for us to grill. It was also a shame that all the outdoor furniture had to be stored indoors in the living room as their was no lockable shed outside. Those are minor complaints though as the house is in a beautiful bit of Italy and there are some fantastic blue flag beaches about a 20 minute drive away. Ceglie Messapica itself had some lovely restaurants but for really cracking meals, try Ostuni.

Trullo Fedelle is a fantastic place to stay. Approximately 5 km from the gorgeous and unspoilt town of Ceglie Messapica it is the perfect location to discover and explore Puglia.

The Trullo is in a quiet spot but an easy drive to the Ceglie. It is surrounded by olive, fig, walnut, plum and prickly pear trees with a vine right outside the kitchen door and you are encouraged to pick whatever you want, and it is all delicious!

The Trullo has plenty of space for a family of five or six. We were there with our 19 year old son and daughters aged 17 and 14 and had enough room and privacy for everyone. The pool is perfect. It is unheated but this is a positive thing as most days it is 30c plus and plunging in is a delight in the heat of the afternoon!

Everything a family needs is provided, including all linen and even pool towels with plenty of crockery, cutlery and pots or pans in the kitchen.

From the outset, Silvio (the owner) provides great communication and is very helpful and quickly answers any questions you have. When we were there he kept in touch by text to make sure we were all OK. Hilary and Rocco are the local property managers and are brilliant. If you need anything they are quick to respond.

You will need a car to make the most of this place but it is easy to get around Puglia and we found the locals everywhere warm, friendly, patient with our poor Italian and willing to help if you were polite and friendly in return. There are few tourists, other than in the the more obvious hotspots like Lecce or along parts of the coast but generally you will see very few British tourists. We visited lots of the beautiful local towns from Lecce in the south to Ostuni (nearby), Polignano a Mare, Egnazia (Roman ruins), Monopoli, Alberobello, Martina Franca, Oria…..and the list goes on. We found that most places were close enough to take to visit in the morning before things close (usually around 1pm) returning to Trullo Fedelle for some poolside relaxation.

We loved the Italian evenings, especially as there were so so many festivals going on, including in Ceglie if you don’t want to travel further afield. Each town is very unique with its own personality and way of doing things and with thoughts this was great.

Food in Ceglie is amazing with some fab restaurants, We enjoyed Cibus and La Trattoria Piacere E Tradizioni but all we tried were good. Trip Advisor is a good guide as always.

Highly Recommended.

Although we live in Italy, we hadn’t yet been to Puglia, so having the full, rural Trullo experience, and in such a beautiful part of the province, was a wonderful experience. Trullo Fedelle has clearly been renovated with sympathy and care, and the gardens are great for exploring – and picking delicious figs! Going for a run in the evenings along the quiet backroads was one of the highlights. Ceglie is deceptively large and requires much more exploring, as does the whole region, and we will return. Thank you for the opportunity to stay in your Trullo
