Trullo Fedelle is a fantastic place to stay. Approximately 5 km from the gorgeous and unspoilt town of Ceglie Messapica it is the perfect location to discover and explore Puglia.
The Trullo is in a quiet spot but an easy drive to the Ceglie. It is surrounded by olive, fig, walnut, plum and prickly pear trees with a vine right outside the kitchen door and you are encouraged to pick whatever you want, and it is all delicious!
The Trullo has plenty of space for a family of five or six. We were there with our 19 year old son and daughters aged 17 and 14 and had enough room and privacy for everyone. The pool is perfect. It is unheated but this is a positive thing as most days it is 30c plus and plunging in is a delight in the heat of the afternoon!
Everything a family needs is provided, including all linen and even pool towels with plenty of crockery, cutlery and pots or pans in the kitchen.
From the outset, Silvio (the owner) provides great communication and is very helpful and quickly answers any questions you have. When we were there he kept in touch by text to make sure we were all OK. Hilary and Rocco are the local property managers and are brilliant. If you need anything they are quick to respond.
You will need a car to make the most of this place but it is easy to get around Puglia and we found the locals everywhere warm, friendly, patient with our poor Italian and willing to help if you were polite and friendly in return. There are few tourists, other than in the the more obvious hotspots like Lecce or along parts of the coast but generally you will see very few British tourists. We visited lots of the beautiful local towns from Lecce in the south to Ostuni (nearby), Polignano a Mare, Egnazia (Roman ruins), Monopoli, Alberobello, Martina Franca, Oria…..and the list goes on. We found that most places were close enough to take to visit in the morning before things close (usually around 1pm) returning to Trullo Fedelle for some poolside relaxation.
We loved the Italian evenings, especially as there were so so many festivals going on, including in Ceglie if you don’t want to travel further afield. Each town is very unique with its own personality and way of doing things and with thoughts this was great.
Food in Ceglie is amazing with some fab restaurants, We enjoyed Cibus and La Trattoria Piacere E Tradizioni but all we tried were good. Trip Advisor is a good guide as always.
