Lecce is the capital of the province of Lecce and because of the rich Baroque architectural monuments found in the city, it is commonly nicknamed ‘the Florence of the South’.

Lecce is a vibrant city known for its olive oil and wine production, as well as its glorious architecture, historical sites, great restaurants, bars and shops.

It’s well worth the drive, but go early as most shops close around 1.00pm to 4.00pm.
